Answer:

In the triangle the sides are 8cm 15cm and 17cm

As 8^2 + 15^2 = 17^2

the triangle is a right triangle [Converse of Pythagoras theorem]

The area of the triangle = 1/2 x 8 x 15 cm2

= 60 cm2

The perpendicular length from the opposite vertex to the side whose length is 17 cm, is the altitude of the triangle is the base is 17 cm

so let the perpendicular length be x cm

according to the question

1/2 x 17 x (x) = 60

x = 60 x 2/17

x = 120/17

x = 7 and 1/17

the correct option is (2)

hope it helps
