In grafting cambium helps in binding the two parts of the stem. Monocots do not posseses cambium hence grafting is not possible in monocots.

Grafting is easy to be performed in dicots as compared to monocots such as oak. This is because monocotshave closed scattered vascular bundles, that means vascular bundlesare without cambium and are irregularly arranged which makes themdifficult to be connected between stock and scion parts ofgraft.
