The correct answer is 0.387 W/mK.

Explanation:

  • To figure out the thermal conductivity we are given the length of the board i.e 30 mm. We convert it into meters i.e 0.03 m.

  • Heat flowing through a wooden board per sq cm of the area is 0.0086 W/cm.

  • Hence using the formula Q/A = (0.086 ×3) W/cm² = (0.0086 × 10000 × 3) W/m² = 258 W/m²

  • So, the temperature difference is 20 K

  • Putting in the values, k = 258 x 0.03 / 20 = 0.387 W/mK
