When an electric current is passed through high resistance wire like nichrome wire, the resistance of wire becomes very hot and produces heat , this produces heating effect of electric current .
CALCULATIONS:-
When an electric charge Q moves against a potential difference V.
W=Q×V
Current I = Q/t or Q=It
From Ohm's law V/I = R
Or V = IR
W=( I×t) ×Rt
W= I square Rt
Heat given is produced by
H=I square Rt

When electric current is passed through any kind of material, it produces heat because all conducting substances offer some resistance to electric current. Exceptions are superconductors. But this can heppen only below a certain temperature.
