Becuz a. Pure metal get heat up earlier than allow due to the reason that band separation energy of alloys is greater than pure metal due to this allow gets heated up at larger temperature than pure metal does...so alloys r preferred as once get heated will lose energy slowly....

b) The conductors of electric heating devices such as bread toasters and electric irons are made of alloy because

◾resistivity of an alloy is more than that of metals.

◾It produces large amount of heat and do not burn easily.
