The formation of product depends upon the temprature provided. At 413 k formation of ether takes place while at 443 K alkenes are formed (major+minor).

reactions are -

at 443 K-

CH3CH2CH2CH2OH + H2SO4 ------> CH3-CH=CH-CH3 (major)  +

CH2=CH-CH2-CH3 (minor)

at 413 K-

2 CH3CH2CH2CH2OH + H2SO4 ---------> C4H9 O C4H9 (ether)
