Graphite fiber. Produced from the pyrolysis of stretched polyacrylonitrile or rayon, it has more than 99% carbon content (less than 97% carbon content = carbon fiber). It is used to improve strength and frictional properties (lubrication). It is relatively expensive (Figures 2-2 and 2-3).
