Heavier bodies need greater initial effort to put them in motion. why?

we know that the mass of a body is the measure of inertia. to set the two bodies in motion, we need an external unbalanced force which is proportional to mass of the body. a large force is required to set a heavy body in motion then to set a lighter body in motion.
