Heavy-meromyosin (HMM) consists of two subfragments: S-1 and S-2. The S-2 portion of HMM projects out at an angle from LMM, and the S-1 portion is the globular head that can bind to actin. S-1 and S-2 together are also termed a myosin cross-bridge.
