The complete question will be :

Q. Heidi grew her hair out for many years. Her hair was 1 1/3 of a meter long. She donated her hair by cutting off 5/6 of a meter. How long is Heidi's hair now?

Given:

Heidi's hair was 1\frac{1}{3} of a meter long i.e., \frac{4}{3} of a meter

Heidi donated \frac{5}{6} th of a meter

To find:

How long is Heidi's hair now

Solution:

Heidi's donated \frac{5}{6} of a meter of her hair by cutting off from the original length of  \frac{4}{3} of a meter

Therefore,

After cutting, the length of hair that she will be left with is,

= \frac{4}{3} - \frac{5}{6}

taking L.C.M of the denominator which will be 6

= \frac{(4\:*\:2)\:-\:5 }{6}

= \frac{8\:-\:5}{6}

= \frac{3}{6}

= \frac{1}{2}

Thus, Heidi's hair is \frac{1}{2} of a meter long now.
