Given:

Heidi's hair was 1\frac{1}{3} of a meter long i.e., \frac{4}{3} of a meter

Heidi donated \frac{5}{6} of a meter

To find:

The length of Heidi's hair now

Solution:

Heidi's donated \frac{5}{6} of a meter of her hair by cutting off from the original length of \frac{4}{3} of a meter .

Therefore,

After cutting, the length of hair that she will be left with is,

 \frac{4}{3} - \frac{5}{6}

taking L.C.M of the denominator which will be 6

=   \frac{(4\:*\:2)\: -\: 5}{6}

=   \frac{8\:-\:5}{6}

=   \frac{3}{6}

=   \frac{1}{2}

Thus, the length of Heidi's hair now is \frac{1}{2}  of a meter.
