Given:-

  • Height of pole = 24 m
  • Distance of rope tied on the ground from its foot = 10 m

To find:-

  • The length of rope.

Note:-

  • Refer to the attachment for a clear view of explanation.

Solution:-

We can see that in this scenario a right- angled triangle is being formed with:-

  • base = 10 m
  • height (or perpendicular) = 24 m

Hence using pythagoras theorem we can find the measure of hypotenuse.

According to pythagoras theorem,

(Hypotenuse)² = (Base)² + (Perpendicular)²

(BC)² = (AB)² + (AC)²

= BC = √(10)² + (24)²

=> BC = √100 + 576

=> BC = √676

=> BC = 26 m

Therefore the measure of BC (or hypotenuse) is 26 m.

Therefore, The length of the rope is 26 m.

Additional Information:-

→ What is Pythagoras Theorem?

✓ Pythagoras Theorem states that the measure of square of hypotenuse is equal to the sum of square of the other two sides.

  • In a right - angled triangle the longest side is the hypotenuse.
  • The side opposite to 90° is called hypotenuse.

Answer:

 \huge \bf{ \underline{ \underline{Given:-}}}

Height of pole = 24 m

Distance of rope tied on the ground from its foot = 10 m

To find:-

The length of rope.

 \huge \bf{ \underline{ \underline{Solution:-}}}

We can see that in this scenario a right- angled triangle is being formed with:-

base = 10 m

height (or perpendicular) = 24 m

Hence using pythagoras theorem we can find the measure of hypotenuse.

According to pythagoras theorem,

 \bf \: (Hypotenuse)² = (Base)² + (Perpendicular)²

 \bf \: (BC)² = (AB)² + (AC)²

 \bf= BC =  \sqrt{(10)² + (24)²}

 \bf \longrightarrow \: BC =  \sqrt{100 + 576}

 \bf \longrightarrow \: BC =  \sqrt{676}

 \bf \: \longrightarrow \:  BC = 26 m

Therefore the measure of BC (or hypotenuse) is 26 m.

Therefore the measure of BC (or hypotenuse) is 26 m.Therefore, The length of the rope is 26 m.
