Heinz produces tomato puree by boiling tomato juice. The tomato puree has only 20 % water while the tomato juice has 90% water. How many litres of tomato puree will be obtained from 20 litre of tomato juice?

% of water in tomato juice= 90

% of tomato in tomato juice= 100 -90=10

Amount of tomato 20 l. juice contain =10% of 20

                                                             = (10/100) ×20= 2l.

Tomato puree contains 80% water and (100-80) i.e 20% tomato

Let x l. of tomato puree will be obtained from 20 l of tomato juice

∴80%  of x =2 l. (which is obtained from 100 l. puree)

 (80/100 ) × x =2

                  x= (2×100) /80

                    =2.5 l
