Helen had read about the sea in her book ‘Our World’ and she was keen to feel and touch the ocean. She got an opportunity to visit the sea when she and Miss Sullivan went to Cape Cod. Once at the sea shore, Helen hurriedly plunged into the water. The motion of water filled her with great joy. She started enjoying the water. Suddenly, her foot struck a rock. Her ecstasy changed into fear as she started drowning. She struggled for a while and finally, the waves threw her back on the shore and she was supported by the embrace of her teacher. It took her some time to recover from the panic, after which she innocently asked her teacher, “Who put salt in water?”
