Every parent wants to rear up his child in the best possible environment and manner still, the way Helen’s parents brought her up made them a role model for other parents. They were quite worried that their daughter was a special – abled child but it didn’t put down their spirits. They started looking around for schools which would accommodate Helen despite her disabilities. They tried their best to help her and never let Helen go into her cocoon or the world of frustration and depression. Helen’s mother had read Dickens ‘American Notes’ which gave her hope that Helen would be able to catch up with the world. They look her to an ophthalmologist who told them to consult a school where such kind of children were educated. On approaching Perkin’s Institute, they were informed that soon a teacher would be sent to help their daughter and it was at this point that Helen’s life took a great turn. Miss Anne Sullivan came like a whiff of fresh cool air into her life. Helen’s mother was her greatest support in difficult times. She was always by her side teaching her to face life as it comes. With the result, Helen grew up into a confident women who had a never–give–up attitude and this attitude helped Helen live a complete life.
