Helen's happy days did not last for long.
In the dreary month of February , came the illness which closed her eyes and ears abd plunged her into unconsciousness. Helen became extremely sick , a sickness that was to impact the rest of her life. It was the called the "Acute Congestion of the Stomach and Brain ".
The fever left her as suddenly and mysteriously as it had come. There was great rejoicing in the family but no one, not even the doctor , knew that Helen could never see or hear again.
