For Helen, books not only gave her pleasure but also wisdom as well as knowledge as she perused them. Helen preferred reading books herself because it gave her a chance to explore worlds on her own, to embark on journeys without any external aid. Literature was Helen's Utopia where she was not disenfranchised and there were no barriers that shut her out from the sweet, gracious discourse of her book friends. They talked to her without embarrassment or awkwardness. Her interests were vast and varied when it came to books and authors, learning something different from each and every work as well appreciating the value of her knowledge. New vistas opened up in front of her, new channels of learning and education that came with works she perused.
