The Nuremberg Tribunal did not want to be as harsh as the Nazis, so they sentenced only about eleven Nazis to death. It was generally felt that the rise of Nazi Germany was the result of the bitter experience of Germany after the First World War. So, the Allies also did not want to be harsh on the defeated Germany as they were after the First World War.
