In the story Eklavya, the boy showed his loyalty by cutting off his right thumb for his Guru, Dronacharya.
Following is the sequel,
After realizing that Eklavya had indeed cut off his right thumb for the guru who had never taught him, Dronacharya cried. He had taught many students and trained many Pandavas but never came across such a marvelous being who not only forgot about the mistreatment done on his and Arjun's part but created a mud sculpture of him and would always pray before that sculpture of him.
Such an offering was not expected by Dronacharya. Eklavya has passed this test of showing his loyalty. Later on Arjun saw that Eklavya had not only proved to be the best archer in the lands but also has proven to be the best student.
Arjun knew that he must get rid of Eklavya before the entire kingdom were to find out about this offering. Arjun pretended to ask for forgiveness from Eklavya for his mistreatment and biased behavior in the past and invited him to the training center, Gurukul.
Eklavya saw his guru who smiled at the suggestion and therefore made his way with the Pandavas. In the Gurukul that night Arjun planned on framing Eklavya for stealing Dronacharya's beloved sword and scriptures. This sword was made of gold which is why it held great monetary value as well as significance. This sword would be provided to the soldier who Dronacharya would find to be extraordinary in his lifetime. This is why this sword was very dear to Dronacharya.
Eklavya was sleeping when he heard footsteps near his chambers. He saw that Arjun was making his way towards a gallery. He followed Arjun and found Arjun trying to drug one of the gatekeepers of the vault. At once he ran to find Dronacharya who didn't believe Eklavya.
One of the Pandavas was sent off with Eklavya to confirm who then served as his witness and Dronacharya knew that one of his students was trying to deceive him.
Atlast the sword went missing and Arjun went to Droncharya with his suspicion against Eklavya, who then slapped Arjun. Arjun was astonished as he saw that Droncharya rushed to Arjun's chambers and found the hidden scriptures. He sent Arjun off to exile for his misdeeds and Eklavya live in Gurukul since thereforth.
