Importance of insulators in electrical circuits:-

  • Insulator is usually used to insulate the live parts of equipment or cable from earthed objects.
  • Insulators are used for insulation of wire, switches, plugs, etc. So that circuit could be made shock free and safe to touch.

The conditions under which a bulb glows when it is connected by wires to a cell:-

  • The filament has to be hot enough to glow.
  • The filament should not melt or break.
  • The glass enclosing the filament should have low absorption cross-section to the wavelength in which the filament is supposed to radiate light, that way maximizing light output from the bulb.
  • The circuit should be closed.
  • The connecting wire should be made of conducting material like Copper.
  • The circuit should have a power source like battery.

Arrangement of a bulb, a cell and a wire be connected to make the bulb glows:-

The two terminals of the electric cell were connected to two terminals of the bulb.

The functions of a switch:-

  • The function of a switch is to either open or close a conductive path.
  • It is used to control the flow of current though a circuit.
  • Less power consumption (if circuit is not used at that time you can simply turn OFF the switch so, power consumption of circuit becomes 0).
  • Better control over circuit.
