Statue of liberty was gifted to United State by France on their friendship.It was the universal symbol of freedom and democracy. It was given by France on 28 th october 1886. It is situated at Bedloe's Island (Liberty Island) in New York Harbour.The full form of the colossal statue is 'Liberty Enlightening the World'.


$\bf \underline{Structure} :$

The statue is given its strength by an internal tower. A skeleton around the tower keeps the outer layer of copper in place.


$\bf \underline{Base} :$

The base is square and rests on a star-shaped plinth.It weights 27,000 tonnes.


$\bf \underline{Museum} :$

There are two museums at the foot of the statue.


⏩ There is a torch on one of the hand of the statue. The torch was originally made of copper. In 1916, the copper was swapped for 600 pieces of yellow glass, making it glow. The flame is covered in sheets of gold.


⏩ There are seven rays on the crown of the statue.They symbolize the seven seas and seven continents of the world.
