Electrostatic Precipitator!

An Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is a filtration device that removes fine particles, like dust and smoke, from a flowing gas using the force of an induced electrostatic charge minimally impeding the flow of gases through the unit.

Working of Electrostatic Precipitator

Electrostatic smoke Precipitators work by forcing dirty flue gas (the gas escaping from a smokestack) past two electrodes (electrical terminals), which take the form of metal wires, bars, or plates inside a pipe or smokestack.

As the dirt particles move past it, they pick up a negative charge.

Application of Electrostatic Precipitator

  • The most common application of Electrostatic precipitator is an industrial application for a smoke.

  • Electrostatic Precipitators are used in steam plants for removing the dust from flue gases.

  • Electrostatic Precipitators are used in machine shops and chemical plants for removing oil mists and acid mists.

Parts of Electrostatic Precipitators

Various components in an electrostatic precipitator are :-

  • Electrodes.
  • Rectifier.
  • Hooper.
  • Insulators.
  • 440v 50hz 3 phase supply.
  • High voltage transformer.
