Hey there,

The law is -

"Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but only transformed from one form to another"

The energy which we want to protect is energy sources like coal , petroleum etc.

The law says about mechanical , electrical energy

HOPE YOU GOT IT

Energy cannot be created OR destroyed, but still we need to conserve energy because it is wasted in form of heat energy. For example, when we are using fuels, a lot of heat energy is produced. This cannot be used in any way. Therefore, it is wasted. Hence, we need to conserve energy, so that we expend less energy in form of heat energy.
