Answer:

The area of path is 384 m².

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A garden

Length 50 m, breadth 42 m

Path of 2m wide is built outside and around it.

To find:

Find Area of path.

Solution:

Formula to be used:

Area of rectangle: length×breadth

Step 1:

Find the area of garden.

Area of rectangle ABCD:

it's length = 50 m

Breadth = 42 m

Area of rectangle ABCD = 50×42 m²

= 2100 m²

Step 2:

Find length and breadth of rectangle A'B'C'D'.

Length A'B'= 50+2+2 = 54 m

Breadth B'C'= 42+2+2= 46 m

Area of rectangle A'B'C'D = 54×46 m²

= 2484 m²

Step 3:

Subtract area of both rectangle in order to find the area of path.

Area of path = 2484-2100 m²

Area of path = 384 m²

Thus,

Area of path is 384 m².
