the valexy of am elelment is determined by the no. of electorlns presebt in the outermost shell of its atom is called valency trends

atomic size-the size of the atom is indicated by its radius. atomic radius is the distance between the nucleus of the atom and its outermost shell .
3 it is seen taht the metallic elements like na, mg, are toward left .the non metallic element such as sulphur chlorine at words right .the metallic element Silicon lies in between these two types of similar pattern is also observed in the other periods .

✔In a group the valence electrons remains same.
Like in group 1..
Li, No K, Rb, Cs, Fr are having same valence electron which is +1.
✴In a period...
✔In a period the valence electrons increases by one as we move left to right.
Like in period 1
The valence electron increases by one
Li =1,Be=2,B=3,C=4,N=5,O=6,F=7.
