The Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event, or the K-T event, is the name given to the die-off of the dinosaurs and other species that took place some 65.5 million years ago. For many years, paleontologists believed this event was caused by climate and geological changes that interrupted the dinosaurs' food supply

How did dinosaurs go Extinct?

\mathfrak{\green{\huge{Answer}}}

When group of animals die out completely from their habitat, they are said to be extinct. Dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, quite suddenly. The reason behind their disappearance still remains a mystery. Scientists have presented several theories to explain why these mighty giants died unexpectedly.

Bang!

In 1980, US-born laboratory physicist named Luis Alvarez proposed a Theory about the disappearance of Dinosaurs. He suggested that about 65 million years ago, an asteroid from space hit Earth. The the impact of this collision led to the mass destruction of all the dinosaurs on the planet.

According to Alvarez, the impact of the collision was board direct indirect. When the asteroid crashed, it would have probably scattered huge amounts of dust and debris into the atmosphere, blocking out the sun. This resulted in a major dip in the temperature and had an impact on the survival of the dinosaurs.

The crash also led to tsunamis, severe storms, earthquake and volcanoes. These changes set off a chain reaction, with plants dying first, followed by the giant herbivores and then the large carnivores.

Extreme Environment!!

Extreme volcanic activity, acid rain and other natural phenomenon may have changed the climate of the Earth significantly during the last half of the the Cretaceous period. Some scientists claim that dinosaurs failed to adapt to these changes and I died out.
