First equation of motion is velocity time equation.

The equation is -{ v = u + at }

Explanation: If an object started to move with initial velocity 'u' after time 't' then its acceleration 'a' will be

Accelaration = change in velocity/ time taken

For example - A train starting from rest attains a velocity of 72 km/h in 5 minutes. Assuming that the accelaration is uniform, the find the Accelaration.

Answer – u = 0

v = 72 km/h = 72 × 5/18

= 20 mt/sec

t = 5 min = 5 × 60

= 300 sec.

a = ?

From I equation of motion -

v = u + at

20 = 0 + a × 300

a = 20/300

a =1/5 meter/second sq.
