Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August 1947. After two centuries of British rule, India got its independence after 100 years of freedom struggle. Independence Day is celebrated to commemorate the freedom fighters of India who fought for Indian Independence. Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Swami Vivekananda are some of the most revered freedom fighters of India. Independence Day is celebrated across the length and breadth of the country with enthusiasm
Independence Day is one of the three national holidays of India, the other two being Gandhi Jayanti and Republic Day.
March-past, flag hoisting, dance, music and drama with patriotic themes are a common sight on Independence Day across not just India but the world. Independence Day celebrated not just in India but across the world by the Indian diaspora residing in foreign countries.
On the occasion of independence day, children are taught about the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian freedom fighters during the British rule.
Independence day also celebrates the constitutional and democratic values of our country.

Now I will give some information about independence day.
We celebrate independence day because Britishers had given liberty to our country india on the day August 15,1947. Given by Louis mountboaten who is the member of British royal family.
Before the independence a lot of moments were happened! Some of the moments like khilafat moment, quit india moment and salt satyagrah and some few moments had happen.
In these all moments the person who lead is MAHATHMA GANDHI, who is pride of our nation.
Great people like Subash Chandra Bose, bagaht Singh, jahawaharlal Nehru, rajendra Prasad, rabindranath tagore and few had participated in moments.
After the independence in 1960, 26 January the INDIAN CONSTITUTION came into affect which is written by DR. ambedkar
