❖ It can have serious effects, like algal blooms that block light from getting into the water & harm the plants & animals that need it. 

❖ It the water, making it hypoxic & creating a dead zone where no organisms can survive.

❖ It is characterized by excessive plant & algal growth due to the increased availability of one or more limiting growth factors needed for photosynthesis.

❖ It causing algal blooms which ultimately lead to depleted oxygen levels & generally poor water quality.

Eutrophication is the process in which dissolved oxygen in water gets reduced due to excessive growth of algae as a result of extra loading of nutrients in water body.
