The Revolt saw the end of the company rule and the administration of India was passed onto the british crown. 2. The India office was created to handle the governance and the administration of the country.

  • Results of “The Revolt Of 1857” are as follows -

1.Rule of East India Co. ended and now after the “Queens Proclamation” on 1st Nov 1958 the responsibility of administration went directly into the hands of British Crown.

2.Policy of Annexation (Doctrine of Lapse) came to an end &now rulers of Indian kingdoms who didn’t had any heirs were now allowed to adopt a heir.

3. To please Indians criminal laws were reformed & universities were set up.The portfolio system of administration was also introduced.

4. Indian army was reorganised so that ‘Sepoy mutiny’ couldn't take place again.Proportion of soldiers in army was also changed henceforth very few soldiers were introduced in army from Awadh & West Bengal whereas the number of british soldiers were increased.
