let sadhana and sushma age be x,y respectively

y= x- 3

y x= 180

x= 180/y

put in y= x-3

y= 180/y - 3

y= 180 - 3y)/y

y^2 + 3y -180= 0

y^2 -12y +15 y -180= 0

y( y-12) +15( y-12)= 0

y= -15,12

take y= 12

so x= 180/y = 180/12 = 15

Let shushma age be x years

Let Shandhana age be y years

And, ${xy = 180}$

From this, ${y = \frac{180}{x}}$ ..(2)

Substitute (2) in (1)

Now,

${x = \frac{180}{x} - 3}$

==> ${x - \frac{180}{x} = -3}$

==> ${x^2 - 180 = -3x}$

==> ${x^2 + 3x - 180 = 0}$

This is a Quadratic equation.

==> ${x^2 + 15x - 12x - 180 = 0}$

Solving this, we get

${x = -15 ; 12}$

Therefore x = 12 (ignoring-'ve value)

Therefore, Shushma's age = 12 years

Again, Shandhana's age = 12-3

Shandhana's age = 9 years.
