Hey mate.
Here is your answer-
India is today suffering from water scarcity related problems in many parts of the nation despite of the heavy monsoon rains. Many problems are responsible for water scarcity but now agriculture is also a big problem to water scarcity.
Approximately 60.4 percent of land in India is used for agriculture and maximum of the farmers are totally depend on monsoon. So a lot of water is used for agriculture.
As, due to rain failure in some reasons there is a huge demand for water. The water tanks are brought from other states just for irrigation. Also as 60.4 percent on land is used for cultuvation the monsoon water is totally used by crops, thus reducing water table.
So by these ways ( may be more) agriculture aggravated the problem of water scarcity in India.
Hope it helps!!!!!
(i) Water is a basic input in agriculture. It is used for irrigation.
(ii) HYV seeds needs more water as compared to traditional seeds.
(iii) Commercialisation of agriculture has also lead to withdrawal of groundwater at a large scale.
(iv) Overuse of groundwater is another problem associated with agriculture. The water table has lowered in many parts of India due to its overuse.
