When water evaporates it has a cooling effect. ... We sprinkle water on the roof or open ground in hot summers. This water requires latent heat of vaporization to change from liquid state to vapor state. It evaporates or vaporizes by taking the large amount of latent heat from the roof or ground and surrounding air.
