Subject: Insufficient Rains and the Plight of Indian Farmers

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my deep anguish and

concern over the problem of insufficient rains and the consequences affecting

farmers in our country. There is no denying the fact our country receives rich

monsoon rains every year. However, I  some areas of Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajasthan,

Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, monsoon rains fall far below the normal

level. This leads to poor crops.

In spite of 70 years of independence, the Central and State

Governments have failed to provide proper irrigation facilities to the farmers

in these areas. Lack of rains leads to poor crops, which sometimes compel some

unfortunate farmers to commit suicide.

Through the medium of your esteemed daily, I appeal to the

Government to provide proper irrigation facilities in these areas and use other

scientific techniques such as cloud seeding in low rain areas. I hope you will

give my views enough space in your reputed daily.

Thanking you.

Yours truly,
