Solution : The moment of inertia of the cylinder about its axis = MR²/2

Using parallel axis theorm

I = I• + MR² = MR²/2 + MR² = 3MR²/2 (1) Answer

Similar, the moment of inertia of a solid sphere about a tangent is

2/5MR² + MR² = 7/5MR² (2) Answer
