we know that if a,b,c are in AP then a+c=2b
so in this question..
we have to find AM between a+b and a-b
(a + b) + (a - b) \div 2 = arithmatic \: mean \\ 2a \div 2 \\ a \\ so \: arithmatic \: mean \: of \: (a + b) \: and \: (a - b) \: = a
hope this will help you

If a, b, c are in AP, 2b = a + c

b is the Arithmetic Mean (AM) between a and c.

(a+b)+(a-b)÷2=2
2a÷2
= a
