Advantages
i) Classification is based on atomic no. which is most fundamental property of element.
i)Since this classification is based on the atomic number and not on the atomic mass, the position of placing isotopes at one place is fully justified.
iii) It is easy to remember & reproduce.
iv) Systematic grouping based into four blocks
s ,p ,d ,f has made the study simple.
Disadvantages (cones) :
i) The position of hydrogen is not settled .
ii) It resembles with alkali metal as well as halogen . However, it has been placed with alkali metal.
iii) Lanthanoids and actinoids have not been accommodated in the main body of the periodic table.
iv)Place of Multivalent elements is not sure in the modern periodic table.

=> Advantages of Modern Periodic Table:
1) The modern periodic table is based on atomic number not on atomic mass so it has justified the position of isotopes.
2) The systematic grouping of elements into four blocks; s, p, d and f has made the study of elements more simple.
3) The lanthanoids and actinoids which are having different properties from other groups have been placed separately at the bottom.
4) The position of elements which was puzzling on the basis of atomic mass is now justified due to classification on the basis of atomic number.
=> Disadvantages of Modern Periodic Table:
1) The position of hydrogen is not justified because it resembles alkali metals (group 1) as well as halogens (group 17).
2) The size of the elements are not predicted by just seeing the table even by calculation of nuclear charge.
3) It fails to keep the lanthanoids and actinoids in the main body...
4) Multivalent elements are not having clear classification...
Hope it helps..
Thank You !
