☄️\mathfrak{\blue{Answer.}}The pancreas, an organ that lies near the stomach, makes a hormone called insulin to help glucose get into the cells of our bodies. When you havediabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should. Thiscauses sugars to build up in the blood.

There are two varieties of diabetes:

  1. Diabetes Insipidus
  2. Diabetes Melitus

Both have different causes and effects.

Diabetes Insipidus: Cause

It is caused due to the lack of ADH (Anti-diuretic Hormone), which is secreted by the Pituitary gland.

The ADH at the DCT (Distal Convoluted Tubule- a part of nephron, the basic functional unit of kidney) is responsible for re-absorption of water.

However, due to lack of ADH, no re-absorption of water takes place and therefore, hypotonic urine is formed.

Diabetes Insipidus: Effect(s)

The patient suffers from dehydration because of excessive loss of water.

Diabetes Melitus: Cause

It is caused when the pancreas' (a 2-in-1 gland which is both exocrine as well a endocrine) secretion of insulin is reduced.

Insulin is one of the two hormones secreted by the pancreas (other than glucagon- which converts glycogen to sugar) and it converts sugar in blood to glycogen to be stored in liver and body muscles.

If its secretion becomes less, the blood sugar levels will rise.

Diabetes Melitus: Effect(s)

The blood sugar levels will rise.
