p= principle
d= diffused
f=functional




bacause the spdf are arranged jn such a manner that no tiher can be arranged.......

The s, p, d, f stands for sharp principle diffuse nd fundamental respectively. The letters nd words refer to visual impression left by the fine structure of spectral lines which occurs due to the first relativistic corrections especially the spin orbital interactions.
