The Important of Being Patient

Meera was a young, cheerful girl who was loved by everyone. However, she had one problem. She was impatient. She would often get angry if she had to wait.
Her parents were worried that she got angry so easily, but Meera did not think it was a problem. One day, in the market, she saw a potter making some beautiful pots. She requested him to teach her how to make pots.
The potter warned Meera that making pots was very difficult, but she told him that she would be patient and careful. However, she soon realised that the potter was right.
At first, Meera wanted to make her pot as quickly as possible, so she did not knead the mud properly. When the potter put the pot in the fire, it cracked.
Meera treid again and again, but each time she made a pot, it cracked. She struggled to make the perfect pot. Each time she failed she felt angry, but she refused to give up.
Meera practised the entire day. Each time her pot cracked, she took a deep breath and started again. Finally, she made the perfect pot.In doing so, she also learned her lesson.

Potter's presence in the story change the storyline in the following ways:

  • Potter said that the work was too hard and so it worked as a challenge statement to Meera. So Meera made a perfect pot after a number of attempts just to prove him wrong.
  • When the potter put Meera's pot in the furnace several times it still broke, if it was not for the potter witnessing that the pot is breaking Meera might have given up.
  • When she realised that the potter was right, she worked even harder and didn't lose her patience just to prove that she could do it too.
