Answer:

8x + 2 = -6

This is an equation. Both sides of the equal symbol are well balanced.

If you do the same thing both sides the balance will be kept.

Now add 6 to both sides

8x + 2 +6 = -6 + 6

You get

8x + 8 = 0

Now deduct 8 From both sides

8x + 8 - 8 = 0 - 8

You get

8x = -8

Now divide both sides by 8

8x/8 = -8/8

You get

x = -1

This is what you wanted to know.

Answer:

-26+8x = -2-8(-12)

-26+8x = -10×(-12)

-26+8x = 120

8x = 120 + 26

8x = 146

x = 146 ÷ 8

x = 73 / 4

x = 18.25
