Prophase 1

⭕ It is the longest phase of meiosis. In compare to prophase of mitosis it is 100 to 200 times longer.

⭕ Divided into 5 sub phases ✔✔

➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

⭕ Leptotene = Also called thin thread stage.

  • Condensation and spiralisation of chromosome begins.

⭕ Zygotene = Paired thread stage.

  • Pairing of homologous chromosomes which is known as synapsis or syndesis.

⭕ Pachytene = Thick threaded stage.

  • Bivalent appears tetrad. 4 chromatids.

⭕ Diplotene = Double threaded stage.

  • Desynapsis occurs. Seperation begins from centromere and it proceeds towards telomere.

  • Chiasmata is seen.

⭕ Dikanesis = Terminatisation is competed. Nuclear mrmbrane and nucleus disappers.

  • Formation of nuclear spindle appratus begins.
