I guess you are asking for derivation of section formula. Here it is:
  
  Consider any two points say A(x1,y1) and B(x2,y2) 
assume that point p (x,y) divides AB internally in ratio m:n
So that, PA:PB=M:N

Draw AS,PQ and BR perpendicular to the x-axis. Draw AR and PC perpendicular to PQ and BR respectively.

IN ΔPAR and ΔBPC
 
∠PAR = ∠BPC 
(pair of corresponding angles)

∠PRA= ∠BCP (90°)

Hence, ΔPAR≈ ΔBPC

∴PA PB=AR PC=PR BC
(corresponding sides of similar triangle are propotional)
