By Pythagoras theorem

 {Hypotenuse}^{2}  =  {base}^{2}  +  {perpendicular}^{2}

 {hypotenuse}^{2}  =  {4}^{2}  +  {7}^{2}

 {hypotenuse}^{2}  = 65

hypotenuse =  \sqrt{65}
