ANSWERS:

Q-1). What are ‘magnetic field lines’?

Ans. The curved path along which magnetic compass move due to force acting on them in the magnetic field is called magnetic field lines.

Q-2). How is the direction of a magnetic field at a point determined ?

Ans. The rule for determining the direction of magnetic field of a current carrying wire is the right hand thumb rule and Fleming left hand thumb rule.

Right Hand thumb rule :-

According to this rule " If we hold the conductor in our right hand in such a way thumb point out the direction of current then curling finger indicates the direction of the magnetic field.

Fleming left hand thumb rule:-

According to Fleming "If we stretch our left hand in such a way thumb, first finger & second finger are mutually perpendicular to each other than thumb indicates the direction of force, first finger indicates the direction of magnetic field & second finger indicates the direction of current.

What are magnetic field lines ?

Magnetic field lines are a visual tool used to represent magnetic fields. They describe the direction of the magnetic force on a north monopole at any given position. ... One useful analogy is the close connection between magnetic monopoles and electric charges.

How is the direction of a magnetic field at a point determined ?

The direction of a magnetic field at a point is determined by placing a small compass needle. The N - pole of compass indicates the direction of magnetic field at that point.
