Like, if someone is telling you a story, and they tell half truth, this means that they are only telling you half the story (or just a part of it).

Example-

Someone might say-
"I lost my balance and fell from the stairs as I was walking down with the laundry in my hand."

While the truth maybe-
"I lost my balance and fell from the stairs as I was dancing on the stairs while carrying out the laundry."

The first story is a subset of the whole story, but it really doesn't reveal any real content that informs the hearer of the reality of the case.
