Nice question :-) and i hope my answer would be error free .

SOUND , firstly sound is not a physical quantity . Sound is a physical term and there is a diffrence between physical term and physical quantity . Physical quantity can be measured in numbers such as Force , Current ...these are physical quantity and Physical term = Sound , Light.

Sound can't be measured ! BUT , Sound Intensity can be measured .

this same thing is with light , Light cannot be measured but light intensity can be measured.
we are talking about sound here.

Also there is no unit of sound as sound is not a physical quantity . Sound intensity has unit that is Sound intensity is measured is ( db = Decibels )

So , if we say , we are measuring sound that is wrong. We measure sound intensity .

Hence , Sound is dimensionless .

BUT Sound intensity is a Physical quantity therefore it can be measured and Hence Sound intensity has Dimensions according to it's formulae .

A explanation in more simple language => If someone asks you the formulae of Sound ! what will you answer ......? you can't answer. But if someone asks you formulae of sound intensity Then you can tell the formulae and also it's dimensions in ( MLT ) form according to it's formulae .

Hope It Helps You. ^_^
