Solutions :-

Brief understanding of Coefficient for 1 , 2 and 3 Question :-

● Coefficients is a multiplicative factor that comes before the variable .

Example = 2x + 3

Here, Coefficient of x is 2 because 2 is a comes before variable x

1) The coefficient of x in the expression 4x + 3

is 4 .

Here, 4 comes before the variable x . Hence, 4 is coefficient of variable x

2) The coefficient of x in the expression 2z - 3xz is -3

Here, -3 comes before the variable x . Hence, -3 is coefficient of variable x

3) The coefficient of x^2 in the given expression is 0 .

Here, Given expression is ax + b.

Therefore, the coefficient of x^2 is 0 .

4) Add 2mn and -4mn

As we know that,

( + , - ) are equal to ' - ' sign

Therefore,

2mn + ( -4mn )

2mn - 4mn = -2mn

5) Add 4x^2y , -3x^2y

According to the question,

4x^2y + ( - 3x^2y)

[ ( + , - ) are equal to ' - ' sign ]

4x^2y - 3x^2y = x^2y

6) Subtract -xy from xy

According to the question,

xy - ( -xy)

[ ( - , - ) are equal to ' + ' sign ]

xy + xy = 2xy

7) Subtract y^2 from -5y^2

According to the question,

-5y^2 - y^2

[ ( - , - ) are equal to ' + ' sign, but here we put the minus sign because sign of the largest expressions is ' - ' ]

-5y^2 - y^2 = -6y^2

8) What should be added to x^2 + y^2 to get x^2

Here, we add -y^2 to get x^2

Therefore,

x^2 + y^2 + ( -y^2 ) = x^2

x^2 + y^2 - y^2 = x^2

x^2 = x^2

LHS = RHS

9) What should be subtracted from x^2 + y^2 - 2xy to get x^2 + y^2 ?

Here , We add 2xy to get x^2 + y^2

x^2 + y^2 - 2xy + 2xy = x^2 + y^2

x^2 + y^2 = x^2 + y^2

LHS = RHS

10) Given Expression :- x + 2

The value of x = -2

Put the required values in given expression

x + 2

-2 + 2 = 0 [ ( + , - ) are equal to ' - ' ]

11) Given Expression :- 4x - 3

The value of x = 1

Put the required values in given expression,

4x - 3

4( 1 ) - 3

= 4 - 3 = 1

12) Given Expression :- 5n - 3

The value of n = -1

Put the required values in the given expression,

5( -1 ) - 3

-5 - 3 = - 8

13) Given Expression :- a + b

The value of a and b is 1 and 2

Put the required values in the given expression,

a + b

1 + 2 = 3

14) Given Expression :- a^2 - b^2

The value of a and b is 2 and 1

Put the required values in the given expression,

a^2 - b^2

( 2)^2 - ( 1 )^2

4 - 1 = 5

15) Given Expression :- 3p + 7

The value of p = -2

Put the required values in the given expression,

3p + 7

3( -2 ) + 7

-6 + 7 = 1

16) A variable can take different values

17) An expression for y is multiplied by itself and 2 is added to it is y^2 + 2

18) An expression with one term is called Monomial.

19) An expression with two terms is called Binomial.

20) An expression with three terms is called Trinomial .
