Hello Mates ♥️

Question-
A massless string of length 1.2m, has a breaking strength of 2 kg wt. A stone of mass 0.4kg, tied to one end of the string, is made up made to move in a vertical circle, by holding the other end in the hand. Can the particle describe the vertical circle?

nice question

procedure to find

let suppose the particle is performing,circular motion....

in that case

maximum tension in the string will be ,in the case when,the ball will be at downward direction,while doing the circular motion

in that case

maximum tension=mg+mv^2/R....i)

v at maximum height during circular motion=0

distance travelled to reach at the bottom of circle=length of the string=2.4

a=g

V^2=0^2+2×10×2.4

V^2=24

V=√48

put this value of v in first

maximum tension=.4×10+.4×48/.6

=4+34

=38N....ii)

maximum capacity of string,=2kgWt=2×gN=20N

since the maximum tension in the string during its movement vertically is 20N,,which is under it's maximum capacity....

so,the body will do circular motiion...
