metals that are higher on the series will displace metals (in salts) that are lower in the series. An example is the thermite reaction: 2 Al + Fe2O3 → 2 Fe + Al2O3; like many redox reactions, this is highly exothermic). Similarly, tin will replace copper in salts (Sn + CuCl2 → SnCl2 + Cu), not the other way around,
